HCG Diet Dangers During Weight Loss
Worried about dangers of the hcg diet? I’m not, having been on it. Any so-called “dangers,” in my view, are easily overcome by being a smart dieter and attending to the nuances of the oral drops protocol.
There may be two areas of concern for the person on the HCG diet. Hardly dangerous. Dangers include not following the directions (you cheat!), and not understanding Dr. Simeons approach.
Let’s learn the truth.
Not Staying with the Guidelines
First, the dieter may not follow the eating guidelines carefully, through lack of attention to the protocol, misunderstandings or simply cheating. Hey, it happens. If this is the case, the diet is likely to be less effective, or completely ineffective. The concern or danger is the waste of the participant’s time, emotional energy, and money.
This is a danger you can control. If you don’t see weight drops like you anticipated, ask yourself if you ate any food not on the permitted list.
The other area for concern is simple misunderstanding or misinformation about what HCG is, how it works in the body and within the diet protocol and side effects. If information the dieting individual gets about HCG is misunderstood or just plain wrong this can lead to invalid concerns and may cause someone to avoid the safe and effective HCG diet.
Confusion
One frequent, major misconception, is that the homeopathic weight loss plan includes a sex hormone that acts upon the body’s sex functions, and has some side effect which causes weight loss.
This is not how the investor of the plan saw things.
In Dr. A.T.W. Simeons’ manuscript, “Pounds And Inches: A New Approach to Obesity”, he makes the point clearly that HCG is regrettably, inaccurately misnamed and hence some confusion exists about how it works in the body. Consequently effects are attributed to HcG that don’t exist. Perhaps a few direct quotes by Dr. Simeons, the originator of the HCG diet, could put some misconceptions to rest. He wrote:
~
“It cannot be sufficiently emphasized that HCG is not sex-hormone,”
~
“It neither makes men grow breasts nor does it interfere with their virility,”
~
“It never makes women grow a beard or develop a gruff voice.”
~
“No amount of HCG is ever able to increase a normal sex function.”

Are there negative side effects to the HCG diet?
For some people there may be one or more minor negative side effects. When considering side effects it is important first to remember to balance any negative effects against the potential gain. Also, that each individual’s response is different. Whenever a weight loss diet is undertaken it is by it’s very nature stressful to the body, that’s what makes us loose weight. Some side effects aren’t unusual as part of this process. (This is why fad diets should be avoided, and also why you need to partner with your physician for care throughout the weight reduction process. Don’t go it alone.)
When on the HCG diet some people have reported experiencing minor headache for the first few days. Some folks attribute this to detox from or withdrawal from sugar. Other likely causes are simply the body adjusting to lower caloric intake and or dehydration. It’s important to drink adequate amounts of fluid each day on this diet and many people are not used to doing that. Stay hydrated. If this is the etiology of your discomfort, people say the headache can be treated with aspirin or any common headache remedy.
Another side effect some dieters report are leg or muscle cramps. This also can be due to dehydration or biological fluid imbalance. Electrolyte replacement supplements widely available like popular sports drinks, and over the counter muscle or leg cramp pills, address such symptoms.
There are other medical conditions, for example high blood pressure, diabetes or gout which may require the dieter’s physician to adjust medications. Both Dr. Simeons’ publication and current marketers of HCG products and diet note that with this, or any weight loss diet, participants should consult with their doctor. Include your health care provider as a member of your taking off pounds team.
Being on the diet (or losing weight thanks to the diet) has anecdotal reports of positive physical effects, such as a reduction in blood pressure, elimination of aches and pains experienced by people with rheumatism, or more stable blood sugar levels.
There are other positive effects reported, other than just successful weight loss. Dieters say they feel more naturally energized, better focused on tasks, and better able to sleep. Experiencing the HCG diet also sets a laser sharp magnifying glass you on eating and cooking in a healthier way. Not eating chemicalized food with additives helps taste buds appreciate natural flavors.
Certainly loosing the pounds and inches is the primary goal of a diet, but additionally the HCG dieting and the maintenance phase can bring about a new attitude about food and your health and isn’t that why people want to lose weight after all?
